Love these pieces of wooden fruit. When you wind them up the apple plays Bacharach’s What the World Needs Now Is Love and the pear croons Chopin’s Nocturne. The apple would make the perfect teacher’s gift, dontcha think?
(Did anyone else start singing “Beans, beans, the musical fruit…”? No, just me? Okay, then.)
I have a strong suspicion that the Pomegranate Cooler is precisely the kind of cocktail that you could drink ten of before you even knew it and be in some serious trouble! Delicious, delicious trouble.
Pomegranate Cooler – 1 1/2 C pomegranate juice, chilled – fistful of mint leaves – 1/2 tsp fresh ginger juice – Sprite or any lime soda, chilled – ice – sugar or honey to taste – 1/2 tsp orange blossom water (optional) – 1 oz vodka – 1/2 oz orange liqueur
Muddle the mint leaves (with sugar or honey if you are using it). Combine the pomegranate, cranberry juice, orange blossom water (if you are using it), vodka, liqueur & ginger juice with the mint leaves. Add ice & give it a good shake. Pour into individual glasses, half glass each. Top off with Sprite or lime soda. Garnish with mint leaves.
Starting this year my family is beginning a new tradition, having homemade soup for dinner the evening before Thanksgiving. We haven’t settled on a recipe for next Wednesday just yet, but I’m throwing this Sweet Potato and Peanut Soup out there as a valid contender!
Do you have any food traditions on the days surround Turkey Day?
I plan on making a heap of these S’mores kits to give to the mailman, my hairdresser and some other lucky souls as gifts. It’s amazing how deconstructing something and putting it in cute little boxes can look so professional! {via Twig & Thistle}
Everyone’s favorite community-based shop, Threadless, has teamed up with the innovative technology of Griffin to introduce a new line of iPhone cases. The first two designs in the series are Birds of a Feather and Clouds Within the Thunder. The super-slim, super-smooth case snaps on to your iPhone to provide 1mm of heavy duty, completely unboring protection. New designs will be added periodically and who knows, yours could be next, just ask Ross Zietz or Joe Van Wetering.

Another great piece from Bailey Doesn’t Bark, the Useful Towel. Anyone who spends time cooking or baking would love this 30″ flour sack towel that has useful information printed on it hanging in their kitchen.
I have a thing for tiered servers, I just can’t help myself. There’s just something about them that draws me in. I’m loving the clean, modern lines of this one by Koziol Design. I’m partial to white, but it’s available in four other vivid colors as well.
