On the Rocks: Island Taxi.

All of my vacay days are used up for this year already, so the closest I’m getting to any sort of island resort is a tasty cocktail aptly named the Island Taxi. (I could make some really horrible joke right here about how if I drank too many of these I’d definitely be needing a ride home. Oops. Guess I just sort of did anyway. Damn.)

Ingredients:
– 1 oz Light Rum (Havana Club if you can get it)
– 1 oz Curacao
– 1 1/2 oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
– 3/4 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
– dash of Simple Syrup
– sugar for the rim
– lime wheel for garnish

Chill a cocktail glass. Moisten the rim with a piece of lime, then sugar the rim. Add your cocktail ingredients to a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with lime wheel. Lick & sip.

The Daily Eat: Crab Rangoon.

Over the moon ecstatic is the phrase I would use to best describe my emotions when I came across this recipe for crab rangoon. If I could eat them every day I would. The Crab Rangoon Diet. I’d probably be dead in a month’s time, but at least I’d go happy! The good part with this version is that baking is an option if you don’t want to go the deep fryer route. Oh, and they also have actual crab in them which most of the buffet versions do not.

7 Deadly Glasses.

I’d drink my wine out of a Dixie cup if I had to, but these 7 Deadly Glasses certainly provide a more interesting alternative, no?

These red wine glasses are based on the 7 deadly sins. Each glass encapsulates a sin, which is revealed through the ritual of drinking. The ‘7 Deadly Glasses’ are about celebrating passion and encouraging the user to be sinful in a theatrical fashion.

The Daily Eat: Crab Quiche.

This marks the very first time something other than a fruit or vegetable has been showcased on The Daily Eat. Seafood seems best suited to summertime with its light, flaky textures and their veritable platter of opportunities. I debated about having one week only devoted to Seafood, but when I looked at all the recipes I have marked realized there’s no way that I could share all I wanted under just one banner. Crab happens to be my favorite, so I hope you enjoy!

This crab quiche recipe is super simple – you use store-bought crust! – and can be easily changed up to suit other main ingredients (i.e. veggies, ham, etc.). I love the idea of little pops of flavor from the succulent pieces of crab mixed into the fluffy egg mixture.

Stirrings Cocktail Sodas.

Stirrings makes some tasty cocktail mixers, but who knew they also make a line of cocktail sodas created specifically to be paired with spirits? Me neither. I’ve always loved the design of their bottles and like how they really let the product speak louder than anything else. But I’m a little in love with the soda packaging and candy-like colors. How sweet would a row of these look adorning your “bar”?

MuNiMulA Wine Tray.

I’m clumsy. I’ve never been a server at a restaurant or bar simply for the fact that I don’t think I could pull off the walking-with-food-and-beverage-laden-tray thing. That’s said, the MuNiMulA Wine Tray is genius. This I could do, sparing carpeting and dry clean only clothing in the process.
