I’m a big fan of Minted, their goods, and what they’re doing for independent artists. I have several pieces of the art they sell in my home, and this is the second year I’ve turned to them for my holiday cards. Minted offers a fantastic collection of both photo and non-photo cards (my preference), and after narrowing them all down to four designs I settled on this one by Phrosene Ras. I love the bright and happy palette and the ability to customize the sentiment.
This year I took the time to input all of my addresses on the website so that Minted could print them right on the envelopes. While I’m normally all for hand-addressing my holiday cards this year is extremely busy, so I took the plunge and don’t have one regret. They look so good!
Minted also offers the option of a decorative element next to the address that coordinates with your card’s design. I really felt like this additional touch helped make up the difference (in my mind) for not writing things out on my own.
Minted will also add your return address on the envelope flap for free. The end result was clean, modern, and just my style.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Nope, not Christmas – autumn, October, and Halloween. October 31st has long been a big deal in my family, from great aunts and uncles creating haunted houses in their basements to massive trick or treating, it’s given me some of my best memories. This year feels a bit out of whack since I’m still trying to get my house together post move and figuring out where the movers put everything (and yes, where I put everything while unpacking). I have pumpkins and mums decorating my front porch and a few favorite spooky pieces indoors, but the majority is in the basement. I’m hoping to dig a few more decorations out before hundreds of trick or treaters descend on my neighborhood (from the realtor’s lips to my ears) the night of the 31st. Summer snail mail is some of my favorite to send and receive. Maybe it brings back memories of simpler times, when email and cell phones weren’t commonplace and summers were spent at camp. My mom would send me a card with a letter every. single. day. (She’s the best.) And I still have every one to this day. (In a box alongside my color war flags and camp crafts, obvs.) I think I need to read them over again sometime soon, and maybe send off a few of these summertime hellos to surprise some friends!
I’m so excited to share that one of my favorite illustrators – Stacie Bloomfield of Gingiber – is launching a line of cards this month at the National Stationery Show! I’ve been a fan of Gingiber since its start, and can’t wait to stock up on the thirty designs being offered. Each card features an original illustration and is backed with a coordinating hand drawn pattern. The fox above has always been one of my favorites that Stacie has drawn, and I’m looking forward to owning a miniaturized version sometime soon!
Tie-dye is experiencing yet another comeback, but not just any tie-dye – shibori. Shibori is a Japanese process for resist-dyeing cloth by binding, folding, twisting and compressing. There are tons of ways to manipulate fabric for shibori, each one creating different designs and patterns. And right now it’s showing up everywhere in the home and on the runway.
