Valentine’s Day + Uncommon Goods

Valentine’s Day is for friends, family, kids… and yes, couples. Hands down I think the best part of any holiday is the hunt to find the perfect gift – something that’s equal parts surprise and want, personal and sweet, useful yet slightly extravagant. Not everything has to be clichéd hearts, boxes of chocolates, and red roses you know. So it’s lucky for us that Uncommon Goods has helped everyone out by amassing a fantastic selection of Valentine’s Day gifts for you, your love, and the both of you to enjoy together! See all of their available gifts right here.

Moorea Seal

Moorea-Seal-1-Design-Crush

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be gifted a pair of Moorea Seal earrings, the Brass Triangle Grid set below. I fell so in love with them that I had to see what else the Seattle-based shop had to offer in their line of nature-meets-urban jewelry. Every piece is really versatile and will most likely end up being your favorite accessory addition. Trust.

Vintage Modern Necklaces

VIntage Modern Necklaces-1-Design Crush

If we could take everything that makes Mid-Century Modern furniture amazing and turn it into a line of jewelry it would be this line by LilahV. All of the mid-century beads were made by a European designer in the 1940s through 1960s, only found recently buried in a factory and exclusively accessed by LilahV to create her killer vintage modern jewelry. Which color combo is your favorite?

Stellar Baby

Stellar Baby-1-Design Crush

Stellar Baby might sounds like a shop that focuses on, well, babies. And it is to a large degree (you should definitely check out the wall art and onesies if you’re in the market). But you’d kick yourself if you bypassed it based solely on the name because Laurie also designs and silkscreens some amazing totes. The colorful geometric designs are my favorite, showing that totes as a trend are still going strong!

Jamie Spinello

Jamie Spinello Metalworks-1-Design Crush

I’m completely intrigued by these raw metalwork pieces from Jamie Spinello. Jamie crafts her jewelry from copper, aluminum, and brass but my favorite medium has to be the blackened copper seen here. The Egyptian design influence is evident, but I love how geometric, modern, and sometimes downright medieval her necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings appear. (via Design Milk)

Dear Kate

Dear-Kate-Design-Crush

Pretty lacy underthings are fun to talk about. What your pretty lacy underthings can turn into during the most un-fun week of the month or during a pregnancy is another story. Here is where Dear Kate has you covered in every possible way – the undies are incredibly comfortable and lined with three leak-resistant moisture wicking layers. (Also, they’re sexier than about 50% of my current lingerie drawer.) I own the pair on the bottom right and can’t wait to pick up a high-waisted pair to wear under dresses.

Lone Mine

Lone Mine-1-Design Crush

These fused glass baubles from Lone Mine remind me of my favorite pre-school snack – layered Jell-o! Each jewel is painstakingly formed first in a kiln and then ground by hand, featuring naturally occurring bubbles and a highly polished surface for a one-of-a-kind piece. I think my favorite is the one directly below, the remnants of a melted snowcone come to mind – yum!
