Jewelry Organization

A few weeks ago I undertook the task of purging/organizing my jewelry box. It had been living in my closet, but I tend to only wear what’s out and accessible so that didn’t seem very smart. I pulled together a few little white bowls and dishes for rings and bracelets, got out my necklace tree, and moved it all to my dresser. I even found a few earring displays I had squirreled away somewhere. Now I can see all of my favorite pieces and accessorize accordingly.

I really like these jewelry stands from Polli, both are made from salvaged wood and look like pieces of miniature folding art.

Soap Ends

I’ve never made soap, but I know that in order to get perfectly sized bars they have to chop off some excess. Morning Calm bundles them up and sells them as Happy Endings! A nice way to try out the shop’s offerings, use a new soap every few days, or put out for guests. So smart. {via Shiny Squirrel}

GO International Designer Collective

Let’s face it, Target has changed the way stores of its ilk work. One of the very biggest changes is fashion. As in I can now afford these huge designer labels. This month marks five years of their GO International Designer Collective, featuring every single name you see above. To celebrate they’ve brought back all the best-sellers for (of course) a limited time. I have no shame in admitting that I spent a solid half hour in the dressing room yesterday trying on no less than ten frocks. And at the end of that half hour I emerged triumphant, with this dress that I’ll be wearing to one of three weddings this summer – and it only set me back $40!

Merit Badges

I never did the Girl Scout thing, but I remember how satisfying it felt to get a sticker on my homework or a gold star on my chore chart for a job well done. There’s something to be said about positive reinforcement, and I doubt it’s only me thinking adulthood really isn’t all that easy. Check out these merit badges from Disorderly Goods, twelve embroidered badges for things like “using your powers for good, not evil” and “giving a shit”. Super smart.

Modern Friendship Necklaces

The second I saw these kicked up modern friendship necklaces on HonestlyWTF I knew I had to make them for a few ladies in my life. The first batch included eight, although there are a few more waiting to be made and sent on their happy ways. Each one used colors that matched my friends individual personalities and styles, so much fun. Easy too, I think each one took me less than two hours to make. Here are a few of the unknowing models…

Clockwise: Duhmericana, Old Sweet Song, Crow and Canary, Design Milk

Can’t wait to make a few of these Hex Nut Bracelets and Woven Chain Bracelets, too!

Raw

I don’t know what it says about me, but I’ve been incredibly drawn to the imperfect lately. The tarnished, the ragged, the rough-around-the-edges in life. For me Jessica Ricci’s Raw collection falls into that lovely category. Her rings looks so much like hard candy that I’d be hard pressed not to pop one into my mouth. (Her collection of keys is also exceptional.)
