Beautiful Wears

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about quality over quantity in all areas of life, which got me thinking about the contents of my closet. Don’t be fooled, I’m not hopping on the capsule wardrobe train anytime soon. But I am planning on thinking more about where and under what conditions my clothing is made and purchasing accordingly.

Olivia + Joy

Spring means different things to different people – buying a new scent to wear, changing up the accessories in the living room, or being able to shed some extra layers. For me it means my yearly purse purge and choosing a new bag. My current one is a cross-body, cappuccino-colored leather number that’s simple and wearing extremely well. But it’s time for something new. A different shape, a different color, a different look.

I was introduced to Olivia + Joy a few weeks ago and was immediately drawn to some of their more structured pieces. The line offers something for everyone, from the edgy girl who likes metal accents to muted pastels for a more feminine look. No matter what your style, all of Olivia + Joy’s bags are affordable. I went with the blue Rory Perf Tote for a pop of color. It has plenty of room to carry my business essentials by day and still looks casual and chic for evening.

Samantha Ives’ Maker + Mineral shop shows off her love of textiles and amazing pattern choices. Each item is screen-printed and sewn by hand in San Francisco for one-of-a-kind pieces. (That hand print is calling to me to buy it in a big way!)

Epoché

Epoché-1-Design Crush

I’m forever on the lookout for a great leather bag, and when it happens to be paired with some great art all the better. Epoché manages it all by pulling inspiration from painting, printmaking, and pattern design to merge art and fashion. The bags are also very high quality and on sale right now to make room for a new collection! No time like the present to add a piece that’s sure to be a favorite for years to come.

8 Leather Totes

Aside from chunky sweaters and scarves, not much screams AUTUMN! to me quite like a new leather bag. In this case, a tote. It’s time to swap out that light and airy canvas one from spring and summer for something a little more substantial for the colder months that are on their way.

Molly M Designs

Molly M Designs-1-Design Crush

“They” say that you can’t do everything well, that you should find your specialty and hone in on it. Practice and practice until it’s perfect. And then you come across someone like Molly McGrath and you realize “they” couldn’t have been more wrong. McGrath is one of those people who can most easily be categorized as a designer, but whose abilities go much deeper. As the talent behind Molly M Designs, McGrath creates jewelry (15 collections thus far), homewares (coasters, trivets, prints, one of a kinds), and pouches. Just goes to show, sometimes a broad spectrum can be a very good thing.

Swift

Swift-1-Design Crush

Hey there. Brittni here from Paper & Stitch. I’m excited to be guest posting today, while Kelly is busy moving. Admittedly, I have a lot of design crushes, but one in particular has really impressed me recently. So, I thought I would write about that today.

I’m always searching for new independent designers that have a similar aesthetic to my own. Minimal, modern, and a tiny bit trendy. And since I’ve been on the hunt for a few more specific pieces to add to my collection lately, mainly in the textile department, my casual search turned into a more specific quest to find the perfect shop. Shortly thereafter, I stumbled across Swift. After reading the background of the designers behind the label, I bookmarked the shop immediately and started adding things to my wish list.

Textile designers Michal and Roni are melding modern design with traditional textile techniques, like tie-dye, block printing, etc. So, in that way, each piece is one of a kind, which makes these designs all the more special. And puts this shop at the top of go-to list for all things textiles.
