Win It: Sara Norris Photography.

I own more cameras than anyone has a right to. From a point and shoot 35mm to a Polaroid and everywhere in between. Cameras are something I’ve been fascinated with all my life – I got my first Fisher Price one when I was 5. And as much as I love, love, love all of them, I don’t use them as much as I should. It’s always Oh, I wish I had a camera right now or I don’t want to stuff yet another thing in my purse.

That’s why I envy people like Sara Norris. True photographers who catch every day life through the lens of their camera. Who never fail to capture a moment or the mundane in a different light. This week Sara is offering one of her stunning 8 X 8″ photographs to one of you lucky ducks! Winner’s choice, my two favorites are seen above.

To Enter:
1. Tell me about your favorite photo of yourself
2. Leave your email address (those who do not will be disqualified)
3. Do it all before Monday, September 21st at 9am CST

While you anxiously await next Monday at 9:01 am, you can get your dose of Sara at her website, blog and flickr account!

I typically HATE photos of myself. When I see them I think, ugh, what a big nose, or why was I wearing THAT outfit, or how come everyone else looks so cute and I look tired/bored/blotchy/cranky/posed… The ONLY photo of myself that I TRULY love is one taken by the mother of a girl I grew up babysitting for. I was probably about 14 when the photo was taken, on my way to stay with her daughter for the evening, wearing a ratty old Penn lacrosse sweatshirt with my hair pulled back and almost grown out bangs tucked behind my ear… none of which sound like they would make for a great photo, but it was early fall, the lighting was amazing and the colors in the background were just beautiful. I'm pretty sure it's the only photo of myself that I don't hate!

AAAAAAAAAUUGH! Awesome! I think my favorite picture of myself would be me doing a half circle and making a face at friend of mine while we were playing with some foam swords. (i know, i know)

My favorite picture of myself is a snapshot my mother took during a dinner party. I'm sitting next to my father and we're in the same pose: both resting our heads on our fists, listening intently to whomever was talking out-of-frame. (Well, my father was listening intently. I was four so I was probably bored out of my mind.)

While taking a photography class in college, a friend and I carried our cameras around everywhere. She got a shot of me and another fraternity brother on the front porch just goofing off, making faces in black and white…. love that one. he ended up being the best man in my wedding.

I graduated from college on a miserably hot day in May. After too many hours staring into the sun wearing that awful mortarboard cap, I looked pretty crappy. Before my family and I went to lunch, I washed my face, threw my hair up into a weird, messy up-do (anything to get it off my sunburned face), and stumbled, tired and exhilarated and dehydrated, out of my room without a second glance in the mirror. There's a picture of my sister and I that was taken just an hour later; we're beaming, both sunburned and sweaty and overwhelmed, and for the first time ever, I can see why people always say "you two must be sisters."

my favorite picture of me is from my wedding day, but is not a traditional 'bride" shot… i had walked a long way from my hotel room to the chapel and on the way the bottom of my dress got FILTHY… in between poses with my maids i looked down, hip cocked, and made the most hilarious face. it's probably not even the best photo of me, but it captured a true moment of my personality.

My favorite photo of myself is a picture of me drinking wine. It covers most my face but I look so happy in my eyes… must be the vino.

My very favorite photo of myself was taken when I was 4 years old. I have a baby mullet, a big toothless grin (I knocked my teeth at when on our sofa after taking a spill) and I'm holding my lil doxie pup, Clarice. She was a gift from my grandparents.

Anyone can tell by looking at this picture that I was an animal advocate from the beginning. 🙂

my favorite photo is a picture of me when i was about 2… I don't have it anymore. but i was wearing pink fuzzy footed pajamas and I was holding a toy. my father must have been on the ground cause i was bending over to look into the camera. and i am smiling and my cheeks are all rosy. but i only have that picture in my memory.

Like many folks, I have always hated photos of myself. I do have one picture that I put up whenever I move into an office, just to make the place feel more like home… it's me and my boyfriend, the day we moved into our first house that was really OURS. My little brother, who was helping us move, snuck around the corner and caught us dancing in the kitchen. Every time I look at that picture I remember how happy I was that day and how wonderful it was to be surrounded by my friends and family, in this place that was really all mine. I'm grinning just writing this 🙂

I'm an actor, and I've had tons of photos taken of myself on and off stage.

One of my favorite photos is from college when a friend used me as a subject for a photography class.

He lit only half of my face so part of the photo is completely dark. I believe it was one of the most revealing photos of me because there is always a part of ourselves that we're working on, regardless of where we are in our lives.

I'm loving reading these comments and look forward to seeing the rest – great idea! My favorite photo of myself is a "four generation" picture. My Nana, mother, daughter and myself all look so different and yet the same. It was taken by a photographer I worked for at the time and you can tell he was a friend. I treasure it.

Great giveaway! My favorite photo of myself is one that my best friend snapped of me walking along the beach in Normandy, France. It was raining, i'm wearing a sweatshrit with my pants rolled up…nothing particularly cute at all. I love it for several reasons… I was completely unaware it was being taken, you can see my set of footprints behind me, it reminds me a lot of life actually… just wondering around trying to figure it all out… and sometimes it rains. ha. 🙂

I've heard this theory that you look different in photos compared to what you see in the mirror because your face is not perfectly symmetrical. I guess that would explain why the my favourite photos of myself are typically those that cover my jaw with only me chin showing. Yes my jaw is a tad lopsided, i think from favouring one side during sleep. But ahh well, imperfections.

My favorite photo is one of me and my three brothers. We were young, ages 3-15, and we were camped out in a tent in our living room all snuggled up watching tv. Reminds me of all the "camping" we did that summer at our family lake house!

My favourite photos of myself are always candids, but my absolute favourite is one where I'm sitting on a window sill, while my friend was preparing for a photoshoot and she snapped one of me playing with her cat that was below me. You can't see the cat in the picture, but I seem extremely relaxed, casual and playful.

My favorite photo of myself – let me think. I have a few. I've been doing this weekly me thing on my blog and taking a photo of myself each week (check it out here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenrem/sets/72157614847486173/) . It's been rather amusing to see how much I've changed in just that short time. I think that my current most favorite photo of myself is the most recent one I took. I am make-up less and just rolled out of bed when I took it. I usually hate photos of myself when I'm not "done up" but this one turned out good. Maybe, just maybe, I'm starting to embrace myself for who I am more… humm.

My e-mail is: Jennifer.Rembisz@gmail.com. My fingers are crossed for the win!

my favorite photo of myself is from when i was about 5, the summer after my little brother was born. i spent a lot of time at my grandparent's house, and my beloved grandpa made me a swing for the back yard. almost every day, he would push me on that swing, high enough for his 6'3" frame to run underneath. the weightless feeling, and laughing with one of my favorite people in the world is one of my favorite memories. and one picture that he took, that is still hanging in my bedroom, is me sitting on his swing, in a pink and green plaid romper, smirking at him.

no matter what face i made, he always loved it. which is why i'll ALWAYS love that picture.

    i miss him.

I must have been 8 or 9. It was at this park we went to every single year called Bear Mtn. in NY. I had a sorta Marilyn Monroe pose going on, my hands on my knees, and me looking into the camera, a smile from ear to ear. What I love about this photo is my fashion tastes of the early 90's… some sort of white with little pink flowers ruffled cotton skirt, a regular t-shirt, flat royal blue shoes with the bows on them (except the bows were falling off and barely hanging unto my shoes) and a headband holding my very long hair back. I can't help but laugh my tush off whenever I see what I'd dressed myself in! DOH!

Being an avid fan of lomography (But i only own a uws 35mm and a holga! I need more cameras!)on first thought ,i thought one of my lomo pictures would be my favourite picture of me!
But what truely is a favourite photo of myself would be one with my late grandpa. He probably had the greatest and cheeriest smile out there and that picture never fails to put a smile on my face whenever i look at it. 😀 hehe!

There was a photo taken of me and my little sister at my brother's wedding reception and we are laughing at something someone said. It was taken of us without our knowledge so it showed how we really are together. We are so happy and leaning in on each other. Every time I think I dont understand my sister I look at the picture and realize that I dont have to think I know her… I just know her.
