Paper, ink, and thread are all it takes Liz Sofield to create these beautiful works of art. It’s apparent that geometry and nature are inspirations in each piece, usually created with watercolor paper. I love the monochromatic palette Liz uses, making the folds and shadows stand out all the more.

I’m the proud owner of a custom Oxford Pennant featuring the name of my hometown, and I couldn’t resist sharing these guys with you any longer. They manufacture vintage style pennants and flags inspired by American sports traditions, each one made in the USA with natural wool and cotton. For his book Illustrated People, French artist Thomas Mailaender combined original negatives and powerful UV rays from a lamp. The result was a series of fleeting images on the skin of 23 models that Mailaender captured in photos before they disappeared.
This weekend – Labor Day here in the U.S. – is probably the last time most of us will see any fireworks for awhile. They’re one of my favorite summertime events, I always look forward to catching a show sprawled out on a blanket or sitting on the hood of a car.
