Denver based artist and designer Sarah Fitzgerald definitely has a way with both shape and color. I’m especially drawn to her los Animales series of unique creatures and the Sanctuaries series that’s full of places of refuge and protection. You can shop Sarah’s prints in her Society6 shop.
I’ve always erred on the early side of, well, everything. And holiday cards? Well, they’re no exception. November and December are always straight-up crazy busy in my life, so the sooner I can get my cards done the better. (One year I had them addressed and waiting before Halloween! Only mildly embarrassing in retrospect.)
This year I’ve teamed up with Zazzle to create the perfect holiday card, one that covers all the bases just like I like to do. They have so many customizable options and designs available, it was easy to find something that fit my style. I could have gone with a photo card of my four pets (but they’d never sit still long enough to make that happen) or I could have gone with a shot of my tree from last year (which was exception if I do say so myself), but in the end I opted for this scripted graphic flat that features my favorite holiday phrase from my favorite Christmas song and I couldn’t be happier. I loved going through all of Zazzle‘s color and paper options and choosing just the right thing that my friends and family are sure to flip for come December!
Wooden. Rugs. Rolls those two words around in your mind hole for a minute or two. German artist Elisa Strozyk has created three variations of these delightful coverings. Strozyk dyes and connects row upon row of triangular pieces as she pulls together the end result of a colored wooden rug, which is so flexible that you can literally crumple it up and toss it into a corner. By now you may have guessed I have an affinity for food art (even though it’s surprisingly lacking in my home). My most recent food art crush is the shop Anek and its owner, Croatian graphic designer and illustrator Ana. She says the shop and her work are about the simple pleasures of food and cooking as well as the beauty of everyday moments, something I definitely relate to.
Oh, hey there – I’m sorry, but I just can’t stop staring at these images of Marbelous Wood. It’s crazy good, right?? Pernille Snedker uses a repurposed marbling technique from old book covers to give wood this incredible look. Produced one drop of color at a time, ring by ring, the pattern is constructed on the water surface. The final result being a reflection of the annual rings of wood and a product that can be used on both walls and floors. (via Mint)
Barcelona-based freelance illustrator Judy Kaufmann recently release a collection of four Party Prints, each highlighting her love of drawing animals, people, houses, cars, and trees. Judy’s style lends itself well to these colorful pattern-like creations that could find themselves equally at home in a nursery or living room! Pick up one or all four for yourself in Judy Kaufmann’s shop.
Paintings? Nope. Photographs? Yup. Mark Lovejoy manipulates photographs into these glorious, beautiful images that ripple with energy and color. This is definitely a case of individual interpretation to the max. (Psst… Mark is currently seeking representation!)
Shannon Finley‘s acrylics on canvas are perfect parts symmetry and reckless abandon. I feel like that’s a decent metaphor for life really, and that’s what Finley’s work is giving me as a takeaway.
