Get Framed 2008 Calendar.

No, I’m still not over Calendar Mania ’08. My latest infatuation lies with the Get Framed 2008 Calendar from IGE. It’s printed on a 16 x 24″ piece of cotton and comes with five tacks – four for hanging and one to mark the date. I like it because it seems more substantial than your everyday paper calendar. And totally affordable.

pata-pata.

Posting is going to be on the light side today due to the fact that I’m working on a sizable web update for a client.

But I couldn’t resist sharing the pata-pata folding pot mat. It’s so sleek and simple and folds up for easy storage which you gotta love. Can I just tell you how difficult it is to find a decent pot mat (aka trivet) these days? They’re all horrible looking. I actually received a ceramic one for Christmas that’s a cat. Needless to say, it’s headed to Goodwill. I sure wish Santa would have brought me one of these instead . . .

(PRODUCT) RED.

For anyone not in the know, (PRODUCT) RED is about helping make a difference in Africa. When you purchase anything under the (PRODUCT) RED umbrella, the retailer will donate up to 50% to the Global Fund to help women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.

The program has been around at The Gap for awhile, but now Hallmark is getting in on the action with (PRODUCT) RED cards, gift wrap and merchandise. I hit up a store Friday and was really impressed with the design behind everything and managed to pick up a few cards myself. Check it out and support the cause.

red flower.

red flower is a line of home and body products “created to transform everyday experiences to their utmost extreme, founded on the principles of world traditions, sustainable sourcing, ritual, well-being and aesthetics.” Launched nationally at Barney’s in 1999 with eight products, the line has now evolved and grown to include over 100. Oh yeah, and they have some sweet packaging, too, which makes me want to see these bottles every morning in my shower.

Home Hero.

Everyone knows that you should have a fire extinguisher on hand in your home. I remember the generic red one in my childhood kitchen vividly – and not in a good way. It always stuck out like a sore thumb, sitting there in the corner next to the fridge waiting for some firery action.

Enter the Home Hero fire extinguisher. Intuitive engineering combines with innovative design to make it both an attractive product as well as easy to use. And in my book that means less likely to hide away in the back of a closet, which means easier to find should you actually need it in the case of a fire.

John Huck.

I love John Huck’s work. His most recent exhibition is entitled Couples and revolves around just that: pairs of photographs comprising hundreds of paired off people. Anyone who doesn’t find this incredibly voyeuristic and fascinating is nuts. We’ve all wondered how the homely guy got the hot girl and vice versa, Huck simple puts it out there on the walls for us to stare at. You know, where they can’t catch you staring at them.

Huck’s previous work includes Breakfast, a look into the lives of people and their first meal of the day. Really beautiful photography paired with every day people and basic needs is a fascinating combination when Huck is behind the lens.

1 litre.

The 1 litre Water Company has truly impressed me with their packaging for 1 litre and 1 half litre. These bottles are the first to incorporate an actual cup into their design. Makes drinking bottled water (which is fast becoming a no-no, I know, I know) a little more sophisticated, dontcha think? I’m also digging the simplicity of the logo, but it does feel a little reminiscent of level vodka in my opinion.

Oblique Magazine Rack.

I love the simple, structurally clean design of the oblique magazine rack by designer Marcel Wanders. I’ve always hated stacking up magazines and great little books just because things start to feel cluttered. Although this is waaay out of my price range it’s a great alternative to the Magazine Pile and a nice way to show a particularly awesome spread in your favorite mag.
