Can’t say that I’ve ever turned down a box of wine. But this box of vino from Revelry Vinters is extraordinary. Not to mention space saving or the fact that you’d be proud if someone saw it kicked back in your fridge. And the fact that the company actually cares a good deal about how their wine is packaged is a total turn on.
Ingredients: – 60 ml Bacardi Limon – 15 ml triple sec (Cointreau) – 15 ml fresh lime juice – 8 ml pineapple juice – 8 ml cranberry juice – Angostura Bitters, to taste (I used 3 drops)

Up until May 1999 I had heard of Cinco de Mayo, but never celebrated the day. That was my first year in Oklahoma and it became evident rather quickly that this wasn’t just another ordinary day. Restaurants host outdoor tent parties, people hold backyard fiestas and it’s all about the food and being together. With that in mind, I set about putting together this roundup of eats and drinks. (And oh, those lovely banners in the above photo are available here. via Simple Lovely)

The Clover Club Cocktail has quite a history dating back to at least 1911 and possibly before. Anything that’s hung around for that long has an obvious reason! Make sure to check out the other variations of this cocktail as well – The Royal Clover Club and Bitter Clover Leaf.
Ingredients: – Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime – 1/3 grenadine (1 part) – 2/3 dry gin (2 parts) – 1 egg white
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker along with ice. Shake well and strain into glass.
Two quick notes on the use of raw eggs in cocktails: 1) There’s nothing to worry about as long as you use fresh eggs from a reliable source. I used fresh organic brown eggs. 2) When using egg whites in cocktail recipes, I prefer to do a dry shake (shake egg white by itself) first for 30 seconds to 1 minute in order to really froth the white, before adding the remaining ingredients and shaking again.
For a short time after turning the ripe old age of 21, the Tom Collins was my drink of choice. Well, until the heartburn kicked in from the vast amounts of sour mix I was imbibing in. However, I’d be willing to sacrifice my esophagus for one of these oh-so-tasty looking Blackberry Tom Collins cocktails. And how refreshing, not a drop of sour mix in sight!
Ingredients: – 3 lrg. Blackberries – 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice – 1 t Sugar – 2 oz Gin – 3-4 oz Club Soda

The Delicious Sour is a little more towards the fruity side of the cocktail spectrum than I generally like to venture, but the write up swears that the the apple and peach are nicely balanced by the lime. Sounds like a great springtime cocktail to me!
Ingredients: – 2 oz applejack – 2 oz créme de pêche – 1 oz lime juice – 1 bar-spoon sugar – 1 egg white
Shake all ingredients hard with ice. Strain in to a tall glass and top-off with soda water. Garnish with an apple wheel.
I’m wary of anything that claims it takes like cake. Case in point: Coldstone’s Cake Batter ice cream. Not a fan. But when I saw this recipe for a Wedding Cake Martini I was intrigued…
Ingredients: – 2 oz vanilla vodka – 2 oz pineapple juice – 2 oz sweet and sour mix
Combine in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain and pour into a raw sugar-rimmed martini glass. Serves 1.
Note: Avoid using the supercheap, neon-looking sweet and sour mix. It creates a less-balanced, less cake-like cocktail.
