kinder GROUND

I’ve been mildly obsessed with rugs lately, mainly because I own four small ones at the moment and plan on needing more once I move. (Pleassssse, hardwood gods be with me!) kinder GROUND is an innovative system that turns everyone into designers with their modular carpeting. By deconstructing traditional shapes and sizes, they invite everyone to get in on the fun of creating colorful floor coverings. Caitlin Wilson Textiles

For me, this is the year of the textile. For a long time I focused on filling my home with furniture and art that makes me happy, but now it’s time to fill in the spaces. That basically translates to I need amazing pillows, rugs, and blankets!

Caitlin Wilson Textiles has a great selection of pieces popping with pattern and color, which is integral to my home because I rely heavily on whites and neutrals for larger pieces. Her patterns are also easily mixed and matched, making it super easy to swap out one thing for another when you get bored.

I’m loving the black spotted rug that’s found a home in my kitchen. I’ve stayed away from any sort of floor coverings in there up until this point and am so happy with the touch of pattern! (It looks like Bebe and Rainey also approve.)

Leaf Rugs

These beautifully inspired Leaf Rugs from VIVIDGREY pull double duty as rugs or throws which only makes me want to own one (or three to layer) all the more. Each one is dyed and manufactured from organic linen canvas and stuffed with pure organic cotton sourced from an Indian fairtrade cooperative. And all of the textured lines are hand-drawn without a pattern, making each piece unique!

Wave and Picket

Tiles can either be traditional and boring or fresh and interesting, there’s not really a lot of middle ground to be covered. Fireclay Tile recently released two new designs in their Debris series – Wave and Picket – that fall squarely (no pun intended) into the second category. Wave captures the feel of the undulating Pacific Ocean while Picket transforms the iconic pattern into a bold, geometric design. Both use up to 70% recycled materials that are sourced with 200 miles of their Northern California factory – not only is that good for the environment, but it also results in one of the hardest tiles available.

Elisa Strozyk

Wooden. Rugs. Rolls those two words around in your mind hole for a minute or two. German artist Elisa Strozyk has created three variations of these delightful coverings. Strozyk dyes and connects row upon row of triangular pieces as she pulls together the end result of a colored wooden rug, which is so flexible that you can literally crumple it up and toss it into a corner. Marbelous Wood

Oh, hey there – I’m sorry, but I just can’t stop staring at these images of Marbelous Wood. It’s crazy good, right?? Pernille Snedker uses a repurposed marbling technique from old book covers to give wood this incredible look. Produced one drop of color at a time, ring by ring, the pattern is constructed on the water surface. The final result being a reflection of the annual rings of wood and a product that can be used on both walls and floors. (via Mint)
