I know I’m not the only one out there who’s noticed a surge in subway art over the past few months. And I’m obviously not the only one who’s toyed with the notion of creating some of my own. Doily Valentines.
For the second time this week I’m mad at myself for having been ahead of the game and having my valentines finished. To me doilies normally seem overly stuffy and remind me of crocheting, but these Doily Valentines somehow manage to look chic and clever. I think it’s the decidedly un-Valentine’s Day colors that help get it done. (Note to Self: Ditch the pink and red next year.)

Felt Flower Winter Wreath.
I’m a sucker for all white anything. Currently there’s a white wreath ‘o sticks on my front door from Christmas that I just can’t bear to take down. I’m thinking this felt flower winter wreath would be a good middle of the road for this living-in-winter-but-looking-forward-to-spring time of year. I love the pops of neon thread in a big way. And guess what? You can make your own.

DIY Paper Flowers.
I bookmarked this idea for DIY paper flowers months ago and while hunting for something else came across it today. Little pops of color are most welcome when the days are foggy and dreary like they have been this week. Vintage-Label Keepsake Boxes.
Inspired by French apothecary packages, these labels are printed on newsprint to mimic the faded look of the originals. (Although I believe tea-staining would work wonderfully as well.) You can download them to make your own for some sweet Valentine’s Day treats!

Happy Weekend.
It felt great to get back to regular blogging this week after almost a month of haphazard posts. Thanks for waiting out the flu and two Christmases with me!
You may have noticed one sizable change here over the past week: The Daily Eat is no longer with us. After a year and half I’ve decided it was time to take things in a fresher direction.
