Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

With cream cheese filling. I know. As soon as any month with the suffix -ber rolls around I’m all about pumpkin everything. Last Friday I made these Pumpkin Whoopie Pies with cream cheese filling and they turned out perfect. The cookies were caky and the filling just sweet enough. The only problem? I have two dozen of them and no plans for giving any away…

Curious Vase

What’s better than a cleanly designed vase? Several cleanly designed vases nestled one inside the other, where each outer vase has to be broken in order to reach the next. What shape will the next one be? Is it worth it? Curious Vase is definitely aptly named. (via Design Mom)

Found My Animal

Both of my dogs are rescues, so I’m all about everything Found My Animal stands for. (In fact, I shared them here in 2009 for the first time!) All of their marine grade accessories are created especially for adopted dogs and their people, even the predominant orange color used throughout the line is the color for adopted animals! It had been awhile since I checked in on their shop, so I was really happy to see it flourishing with a vengeance. They have several new accessories, in fact I think Bebe‘s new collar is there somewhere…

Yummus Hummus

It’s like I’m giving ideas away here, Yummus Hummus would be the perfect name for a hummus-only cafe! But back to the task at hand. Hummus, don’t you love it? I’m not a big fan of the chickpea on its own, but blend it up with some spices and whatnot and I’m all over it. I have yet to make my own hummus, but these are the recipes I’ve got bookmarked for when the time comes. As always, click on the image to go to the recipe and source.

Call Me, Maybe

I’m sorry, I had to. That song is too damn catchy for its own good (but you already know that). I’m not getting a new iPhone 5 just yet, but I am in the market for a fresh look for fall and winter. Really feeling the leather backed one, lower right.

Pumpkin Bread with Dried Cranberries

Sunday morning I celebrated fall’s arrival by baking some pumpkin bread. I’m always looking for tried and true family recipes, so I jumped at the chance to make this recipe from longtime Twitter acquaintance Sarah Rosenthal. She told me it was her mom’s most requested recipe and that was as good as gold for me. I added dried orange-infused cranberries because I happened to have some, and it was a great call. The recipe makes three loaves so I kept one, gave one away, and popped one in the freezer for later (you know, next week).

Pumpkin Bread with Dried Cranberries

• 3 1/3 C sifted flour
• 1 C oil
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 4 eggs
• 1 1/2 tsp salt
• 2/3 C water
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 2 C canned pumpkin
• 1 tsp nutmeg
• 3 C granulated sugar
• 1 C dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour three loaf pans. Sift dry ingredients together and make a well in the middle. Add remaining ingredients and mix until just combined (by hand or low-speed mixer). Pour batter into loaf pans until half-full, then bake for 1 hour (check at 50 minutes). Remove from oven and place loaf pans on wire racks to cool for 10 minutes. Remove bread from loaf pans and continue to cool entirely on wire rack.

Curve BT iDock

I haven’t had a land line since 2003, so saying I depend on my cell phone is an understatement. It’s my only line of contact. But here’s something you iPhone-users can relate to, after an extended conversation those bad boys get HOT. They’re also really awkward to hold when you’re trying to do other things at the same time.

Enter the Curve BT iDock. Just plug your iPhone into the base, connect via Bluetooth, then roam freely within a 30 foot radius. It’s super sleek in either black or white and goes with just about any decor. It even charges your phone at the same time. And I have to admit, it’s made my business calls much more enjoyable and less sweaty-eared.

A Curve BT iDock sample was provided to me. All opinions and experiences are my own.
