Bar Cart It

For years now I’ve convinced myself that the one thing missing from my home is the perfect bar cart. One that would live within feet of the front door and be stocked with essentials that I could mix up on a whim for guests. Somehow there would always magically be a full ice bucket and a bevy of garnishes at the ready for when the moment struck. I’m determined to make this a reality – at least the owning a bar cart part – and have been doing some serious research!

Beef and Mushroom Ragu With Pappardelle

Yesterday morning when most people were enjoying an omelette or a Bloody Mary, I was making Beef and Mushroom Ragu With Pappardelle. Then photographing it and having some for breakfast. Because it’s what I do.

And also because I’m kicking off the blog relay for Real Simple’s Month of Dinners blog relay.

Pappardelle is my favorite pasta, but unfortunately all of Oklahoma City seemed to be out of stock and I had to settle for some serious linguine instead. All in all a very easy dish that would be perfect for a quick weeknight meal. I’ll definitely be making it again, probably doubling up on the vegetables and leaving out the meat since I don’t eat a lot of the stuff. (But if you are a beefasaurus here are 10 recipe ideas for ground beef.) You can check out Simply Stated for each day’s recipe and blog relay member, and say hello to my friend Kristin who writes it!

Ghost Stool

Ghost chairs? Amazing. Ghost stools? Maybe even better. I’m having a serious visual love affair with the red and rose, and I love that they’re available in three different heights.

Colorful Kitchen

At first glance my kitchen has white cabinets, mottled grey countertops, and red accents. But open up just one of the cabinets and you’ll see color everywhere – multi-colored Fiestware, graphic serving pieces, mugs aplenty. To me the kitchen is one of the easiest rooms to add personality to and these pieces definitely make the cut.

B-B-B-Buffalo

I don’t like wings, so I knew nothing of the deliciousness of buffalo sauce until my cousin introduced me to Buffalo Chicken Dip a few Christmases ago. And then my world changed in the best way. This flavor combination has become synonymous with fall and football season in my mind (the Pittsburgh Steelers and Oklahoma Sooners if you’re the curious type), and now that that glorious time of year is once again upon us I thought a little collection of buffalo chicken goodness was necessary. As always, click on the image to be taken to the recipe source.

UNITEA

I’m completely dazzled (yes, dazzled) by Fionn Tynan O’Mahony’s UNITEA, cups with spouts that allow tea to flow from one to the next. So beautifully designed, from the corks that plug the cups once they’re full down to the short and stout cup holding the exact same amount as the tall and thin one when full.
