On the Rocks: The Gemmy.

The Gemmy was created from farmer’s market inspiration and a tub of boysenberries. The bright jewel toned color is just begging you to take a sip and dive right in!

The Gemmy
• ½ tangerine (or sweet citrus), juiced
• ½ lemon, juiced
• 5 boysenberries
• 1 oz simple syrup
• 2 oz spiced rum
• 2 branches of thyme

In a cocktail mixer, muddle boysenberries and the leaves from one branch of thyme. Juice half a lemon and tangerine into the glass. Add the simple syrup and rum and then fill the glass with ice. Shake well and serve immediately. Garnish with the remaining branch of thyme.

Fat Daddy Sweets.

Time for a dose of local Oklahoma City in the best possible form: candy from Fat Daddy Sweets!

Aside from having just about the best name ever, Fat Daddy Sweets also has some of the tastiest chocolates and caramels I’ve ever tried. You can take your pick from Dark Chocolate Truffles, fancy Fleur de Sel caramels and peppermint patties among others. Check out the shop for more varieties, samplers, boxed favors and shipping information. (And don’t be afraid to ask questions either – there’s a very accommodating lady behind the biz!)

The Daily Eat: Fig Plum Sheet Cake.

I’m guilty of having never tried a fig. Not even once. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to, it’s just the occasion hasn’t ever presented itself. At least not yet. But not even that trivial fact has prevented me from compiling a weeks worth (and then some) of tasty recipes for Fig Week!

First up is this to die for Fig Plum Sheet Cake loaded down with fruits, pistachios and honey. My, oh my.

Crackery Crockery.

Castoff plates are one of my favorite re-purposed things. Crackery Crockery gives them new life by filling the cracks and chips with 24K gold, then embellishing them with hand-made enamel floral transfers that “grow” out of the damaged crack.

Classic Modern Office.

Where can I even begin? This office space has it all. The dark wood flooring with the striped rug, the credenza and the tabled desk. The romantic Baroque mirror paired with the modern pattern of the wallpaper. And that skylight setting everything awash in sunlight during the day. Completely and utterly inspiring.
