Posted In recipesWhen in the kitchen I’m not a pinch-of-this-pinch-of-that sort of cook. I’m very by the book (er, recipe). The Bee House Saltbox would be perfect for that kind of person though – oh so adorable.

Posted In recipesA set of these A-Z Animal Flashcards framed and hung on a child’s bedroom wall? So cool.
From Anteaters to Zebras, each letter of the alphabet is paired with a detail of the animal along with the upper and lowercase letters. The backs of the cards show a silhouette of the full animal and an interesting fact about its unique feature. For example, did you know, rabbits can see behind them without even turning their heads? Illustrations are by Mark Fisher.

Posted In kidsI’m all about pumpkins galore for Halloween, but these paper jack o’ lanterns are a nice alternative and change of pace.
• Scissors or an exacto knife
• Orange card stock
• Wooden skewers
• Small votive holders
• Votives
Take your orange card stock and draw a Jack O’ Lantern face, a haunted house scene, a spider, or whatever you desire. Cut out your creation with either scissors or an exacto knife. Take your wooden skewer and thread it through the paper horizontally. Place your votive candle holder and candle behind the entire piece.

Posted In halloween, holidays, make itDuring the month of October I’m convinced that something in my body’s chemistry changes that I require more sugar. Because I’ve got it bad. I can’t stop eating Halloween candy that was supposed to be for trick or treaters!! This Chocolate Chip Banana Cake with Salted Caramel Swirl looks to die for. (mwahahaha!)

Posted In recipesI’m not a big ice cream person (shutter!) but I’m a huge fan of these stainless pieces by designer Hisakazu Shimizu and Sabo Studio. Especially the ice cream spoon which is a replica of those horrible, nasty tasting wooden spoons of your childhood. And the pop-up lid on the cup is the best touch.
