The unintentional theme of this week’s artists seems to be mighty talented youth, with today’s being Sydney-based Lauren Elise Cassar and her accessories line – Mirador. Right now she’s featuring a fantastic debut collection of eight handprinted cotton voile scarves that would look just as good slung around you as hung upon your wall.

I’d love to pillage the virtual shelves of Fine Little Day! Their carefree, simple philosophy goes a long way to explaining why they choose just what they do to sell in their shop. It’s about enjoying the everyday, not taking ourselves too seriously, and embracing the imperfections in this crazy thing called life.

This magical all-in-one dye kit comes with a silk crepe de chine scarf and permanent non-toxic dyes and fixatives, all packed inside a reusable glass jar. Just add water, practice being patient for one hour, and then see the results. So much fun! The kits are available in amethyst, copper, jade, and quartz.

It seems as though summer knew just the right moment to exit stage left this year. Autumn weather showed up this past Saturday, ironically on time considering my friend Andrew hosted an End of Summer party Friday evening. This season I’m focused on comfort – warm knits, flat shoes, and plenty of plaids – and I’m on the lookout for a great trench or anorak to help with layering and a pair of ankle length skinny cords.

A lot of great things have happened since we last checked in with Son of a Sailor back in 2013. I had a chance to meet William Knopp and Jessica Tata, the husband and wife team behind it all, earlier this month and they clued me in to the evolution of their shop. Lots of new jewelry and accessories rich with organic materials and inspired by geometry are making their faces known, along with fun pieces like wooden yo-yos, leather playing card cases, and beautiful cutting boards. It’s safe to say that my crush is only growing!

Sunglasses are my main accessory come summer – forget the armful of bracelets, the layered necklaces, and the fingers stacked in rings. I want simple, I want minimal, and I want interesting. That’s one reason I’m digging Mosevic‘s denim sunglasses. The Cornwall, England company seals six to ten layers of the stuff together to create their Solid Denim line.
