Lovely Loafers

Loafers-1-Design-Crush

Sunstone Loafer

They’ve been creeping into our wardrobes for the last few fall/winter seasons, but I’m convinced this is truly the year of the loafer. From casual to preppy to modern and everything in between, this incredibly comfortable style of footwear is a great match for jeans, skirts, and dresses. And as temperatures continue to drop through the next few months lots of options will even pair nicely with tights. Are you hopping on the loafer bandwagon or are you already there?

Fall Wish List

Fall-15-Wish-List-1-Design-Crush

1. E Hoops  2. Quilted Baseball Hat  3. Lace Up Knee High Military Boots
4. Openweave Scarf in Scottsdale Plaid

It seems as though summer knew just the right moment to exit stage left this year. Autumn weather showed up this past Saturday, ironically on time considering my friend Andrew hosted an End of Summer party Friday evening. This season I’m focused on comfort – warm knits, flat shoes, and plenty of plaids – and I’m on the lookout for a great trench or anorak to help with layering and a pair of ankle length skinny cords.

Pikkpack

Pickpakk-1-Design Crush

Pikkpack is leather footwear that you assemble yourself. There are only 3 pieces of material – the sole, the upper, and the shoelaces. And because the wearer is involved in the making the shoes can be shipped in lighter, smaller packages using less material and conserving natural resources. Pikkpack just launched a rubber soled version and the ability to customize your pair with color.

Beautiful Wears

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about quality over quantity in all areas of life, which got me thinking about the contents of my closet. Don’t be fooled, I’m not hopping on the capsule wardrobe train anytime soon. But I am planning on thinking more about where and under what conditions my clothing is made and purchasing accordingly.

The weather has finally jumped above freezing for more than a day, and I’m ready to say sayonara to winter. My spring wish list is admittedly a bit optimistic, I’m sure I’ll be layering plenty of pieces and still wearing tights – but a girl can hope!

Fall-Wish-List-Design-Crush

1. A pair of Capital Pants that will look equally fantastic with a sweater or peeking out from under a coat on cool days.

2. An embossed black and white Rider Satchel to bring some pattern to any outfit.

4. The über comfortable Field Dress that can be worn alone, with a jacket, or layered over a long-sleeved tee.

5. Vintage meets modern in the Mobile Necklace, which I’d love to layer with other pieces.

6. I’d wear these Skull Earrings every day from Labor Day through Halloween!

7. I love pieces like the Cocoon Cowl Pullover for cooler days.

Summer Wish List

Summer-Dreamin-Wish-List-1-Design-Crush

1. Coral and Cream Spot Bikini  2. Sleeveless Drapey Top  3. Il Sandolo Sandal  4. Geometric Fire Pit  5. Tholos Mosaic Stud Earrings  6. Objects Wednesday Dress

I like to keep the wish lists to a minimum around here, so I always look forward to the anticipation of a new season. While I’m not one to overhaul anything ever, I do like to add a few pieces to my closet and jewelry box to help make classic, longstanding pieces feel fresh again. This time I’ve also mixed in a few outdoor things that would definitely help elevate summer to an entirely new level!

Bucketfeet

Bucketfeet-1-Design Crush

Meet my absolute favorite shoes for this spring. Bucketfeet is a line of artist designed canvas shoes that are rocking my world right now. Every pair is designed by a different artist, and in less than two years the movement has grown to include 75 artists in 21 countries. From street artists in Bogota to graphic designers in New York.

I went with a pair of the Pasco 54, ridiculously comfortable canvas slip-ons designed by Olivier Vouzellaud, better known as Yamas. (You can even buy a print of the design!) And now I’m eyeing the Pineappleade and Mesa Sunset designs. This could turn into an addicting little habit fast.

Bucketfeet-3-Design Crush

I love that every pair has a story to tell, as does which design you choose to wear. Artists get the recognition they deserve and you get an incredible pair of kicks that help express your personality.
