TE-MA Decorative Hardware.

It’s the finishing touches and accents that can make a room or leave it lacking. Family owned and operated out of Woodstock, NY, TE-MA has some of the absolute best decorative hardware I’ve seen. You can’t go wrong with green glass in my book and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. They have everything from cabinet knobs to drapery hardware so check it out and go to town! Just steer clear of those green knobs – they’re mine!

Grady McFerrin.

Grady McFerrin’s bio piece pretty much says it all. Who doesn’t love a Trekkie who can draw?? I love his style. I remember seeing the last piece in Comm Arts a few years back and falling in love with it. So glad to have come across both he and work again.

Win It: Freshie & Zero Handcrafted Jewelry.

I’m so pumped this morning to tell you about Design Crush’s very first ever contest – Win It: Freshie & Zero Handcrafted Jewelry!

I discovered Beth – aka “Freshie” – and her work last October at The Girlie Show here in Oklahoma City and knew I had to have a piece of her jewelry. I took home a simple halo necklace and since then swear I wear it more than any other piece because it’s just so pretty and goes with everything.

Now I get to pass on the awesomeness that is Freshie & Zero to you! Beth was incredible enough to donate not one, but two pieces for the contest – a lula necklace and matching simple lula earrings. Not only that, but the lula necklace is a one-of-a-kind with tanzanite, aquamarine and freshwater pearls! So, so pretty.

Since this is Design Crush’s first contest the entry rules are going to be pretty simple and basic. Drop me a comment at the end of the post. You have until 12:00 p.m. CST this Friday, March 7th. That afternoon I’ll have someone else randomly choose a winner! Check back that afternoon to see if it’s you and we’ll go from there.

Poop.

I feel like screaming “Poop!” at the top of my lungs right now. Well, maybe a synonym of poop that rhymes with spit. It’s just the kind of day I’m having – nothing to do with work or anything else really. Just a general feeling of blah. And I suppose listening to depressing music (i.e. The Reindeer Section, Cary Brothers, etc) all day long isn’t helping lift my spirits much. Oh well, sometimes it’s nice to wallow for a bit.

Dawes Design.

I love both the mindset and product behind Dawes Design. The pieces are both beautiful and timeless and I love that they can go either dressy or casual – mixing it up is a must in my book! Not to mention the stackability factor. And could that product photography be any better??

Jennifer Dawes is a rural Northern Californian who has distilled her knowledge of metalsmithing into an exquisite line of jewelry. Each piece is handmade, fabricated and finished at Jennifer’s studio in the coastal hills of Sonoma County, California. She only uses recycled gold, conflict free diamonds and responsibly mined stones. Everything is made locally and sourced using sustainable businesses that use recycled products.

The Daily Eat: Pop-Tarts.

Introducing the newest addition to Design Crush: The Daily Eat!

As much positive feedback as I get for all of the design posts I report on, I also get a ton on the food. People love to eat and now you can check out a new recipe every single day right here on Design Crush. I promise to mix up the savory and the sweet as much as possible according to what catches my eye and what I (ahem) happen to be craving on any particular day.

Today’s recipe: Pop-Tarts. These little guys look about ten times softer and tasty than the little guys in the foil packets! *YUM*

Photographer Crush: She Hit Pause Studios.

She Hit Pause Studios is Matt Schwartz, photographer, and Kate Shawver, web designer/developer. Matt has been photographing his version of the pin-up girl for the past ten years and all of his models are friends or people who have purchased his work which makes it all that much more appealing and interesting. With Polaroids going like hot cakes, seems like the man chose the right business because he’s truly gifted.
