Let’s celebrate the start of winter with animal masks, okay? I’m 100% head over heels for these sweet things by Abigail Brown. Both her creatures and birds perfectly capture the personality of each fabric and paper sculpture she crafts.

Beth Hoeckel

Beth Hoeckel-1-Design Crush

There is collage art, and then there is collage art. The latter uses different pieces of other stories to pull together their own version, and artist Beth Hoeckel resides firmly in that camp. I’m especially enamored with her Point of View series that’s rooted in outer space or on the moon itself. Retro and dreamy it all but takes you back to the space race!

Rachel Ibarra-5-Design Crush

Rachel Ibarra‘s papier-mâché and canvas vessels radiate color and abstraction all while serving a functional purpose. My favorite design element is the little pointed feet on her bowls, I might just see one holding fruit on my kitchen counter in the near future. Rachel also creates the sweetest brooches – shop her work right here.

“They” say that you can’t do everything well, that you should find your specialty and hone in on it. Practice and practice until it’s perfect. And then you come across someone like Molly McGrath and you realize “they” couldn’t have been more wrong. McGrath is one of those people who can most easily be categorized as a designer, but whose abilities go much deeper. As the talent behind Molly M Designs, McGrath creates jewelry (15 collections thus far), homewares (coasters, trivets, prints, one of a kinds), and pouches. Just goes to show, sometimes a broad spectrum can be a very good thing.

House of Cardboard

House of Cardboard-1-Design Crush

Zoey Taylor and David Connelly – also known as Dosshaus – are the creators behind House of Cardboard, which is exactly what it sounds like. Cardboard, paint, and glue are the only things comprising everything from Zoey’s outfit (she’s the model) to the furniture to the more detailed pieces. If you’re a bit obsessed with the intricacies I totally get it, because I’m right there with you.
