Paris-based couple Jin Angdoo Lee and Mathieu Julien are freelance illustrators and artists who operate under the name Amateurs. And my, are they anything but. I want to wear their needle felted sweaters and hang everything else on my walls.
The unintentional theme of this week’s artists seems to be mighty talented youth, with today’s being Sydney-based Lauren Elise Cassar and her accessories line – Mirador. Right now she’s featuring a fantastic debut collection of eight handprinted cotton voile scarves that would look just as good slung around you as hung upon your wall.
Elizabeth Pawle creates some lovely paintings, but the real gems lie hidden on her Instagram account in the form of these amazing textile pieces. A rainbow of wool, cotton, silk and acrylic stitches cover pieces of hessian with a result that looks both tribal and modern.

Graphic design by day, quilt artist by night, Andrew Steinbrecher is one creative guy. Having always considered himself crafty, a few years ago he put himself to the test by going out on a limb with his quilted creations. Because Andrew’s self-taught he doesn’t feel limited by technique and often intentionally uses wrong processes when sewing. His first (above) remains my favorite. Let’s hope he’l be selling his creations soon!
