This past Tuesday I had a lovely lunch with a friend, and then spent the rest of the afternoon making my way through some local shops in OKC. It’s something I don’t do nearly enough, especially now when the city seems to be experiencing a notable growth spurt. Then and there I decided to dedicate the first post of each day this week to some of my favorite Oklahoma City locales. This is just a drop in the bucket and I’m planning on sharing more down the road, so stay tuned and join me for our first Oklahoma City Week!

First up is Just OK, an offshoot concept of next door neighbor Blue 7. Just OK gathers and purveys the best of the best products and art made right here in Oklahoma. We Oklahomans have a lot of pride in our state and Just OK does an amazing job of sharing that with everyone who comes in their door. Their tagline says it all, Oklahoma Goods for the Good of Oklahoma.

Yogurt Parfaits

I’m almost entirely vegetarian, and fresh fruits and vegetables make me one happy girl. Last month I shared my go-to summer dinner with you and now I’m spilling on the breakfast I eat at least five days a week. This little fruit and yogurt concoction isn’t exactly breaking the bounds of the culinary world, but it keeps me full for hours and tastes amazing!

Yogurt Parfaits
• 1/2 C plain Greek yogurt (my favorite is Noosa)
• 1/4 C raw oatmeal
• a small handful of blueberries
• 2-3 large sliced strawberries
• a healthy drizzle of agave or honey

Lily Stockman

I’ve sung the praises of artist Lily Stockman before, last year when her Block Shop scarves first hit the scene (in a big way, I might add). I love art, I adore art. But it’s not often I see paintings that hit me in the gut like Lily’s do. Mouth agape, nose pressed against the laptop screen, trying to see as much depth and detail as humanly possible within the pixels. There’s just something about her style and technique that grabs me by the heart. It doesn’t hurt that Lily is one of the most incredible, genuine human beings I’ve ever met either. She just received her MFA in Studio Art, so I’m hoping she’ll have some time to turn a few pieces into prints sometime soon!
