Alt Summit 2013 Wardrobe Planner + Packing List

Alt Packing List 2013-pic-Design Crush

It’s almost time! Alt Summit is only a few weeks away and I’m sure everyone’s wardrobe planning is in full swing. For the third year in a row I’ve put together a little wardrobe planner and packing list for you to download and get organized with. It’s helped me massively every year, I don’t overpack (can you say carry-on?) and I know exactly what I’ll be dressing in for each day and event saving valuable time. You can download the 8.5 x 11″ file right here.

Pssst… if you’re interested in learning more about getting organized and planning your time at Alt sign up for my free Alt Channel class that’s happening this Saturday!

Sailors and Seagulls

Sailors and Seagulls-1-Design Crush

My Grandpa was a sailor in the Navy, so naturally I blame his anchor forearm tattoo and nickname (the obvious “Sailor”) for my deep love of the ocean and men wearing jaunty hats. That said, it was love at first sight with Marta Monteiro‘s two-toned Sailors and Seagulls series which celebrates past sailors and navigators who have made their mark on history.

Jamie Spinello

Jamie Spinello Metalworks-1-Design Crush

I’m completely intrigued by these raw metalwork pieces from Jamie Spinello. Jamie crafts her jewelry from copper, aluminum, and brass but my favorite medium has to be the blackened copper seen here. The Egyptian design influence is evident, but I love how geometric, modern, and sometimes downright medieval her necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings appear. (via Design Milk)

Dear Kate

Dear-Kate-Design-Crush

Pretty lacy underthings are fun to talk about. What your pretty lacy underthings can turn into during the most un-fun week of the month or during a pregnancy is another story. Here is where Dear Kate has you covered in every possible way – the undies are incredibly comfortable and lined with three leak-resistant moisture wicking layers. (Also, they’re sexier than about 50% of my current lingerie drawer.) I own the pair on the bottom right and can’t wait to pick up a high-waisted pair to wear under dresses.

Fangs

Fangs-1-Design Crush

There’s something primal and beautiful about Corbett Sparks’ Fangs series of watercolors. Sparks focuses on the mouths of predators, capturing them in a moment of gaping rage/joy. You can purchase originals or prints in his Etsy shop.

Lone Mine

Lone Mine-1-Design Crush

These fused glass baubles from Lone Mine remind me of my favorite pre-school snack – layered Jell-o! Each jewel is painstakingly formed first in a kiln and then ground by hand, featuring naturally occurring bubbles and a highly polished surface for a one-of-a-kind piece. I think my favorite is the one directly below, the remnants of a melted snowcone come to mind – yum!

Dish Towels

Dish-Towels-Design-Crush

January brings with it an almost unbearable urge to purge and organize, and I always seem to start in the kitchen. I go through the dishes and cookware to see what needs tossed or donated, then my (embarrassingly large) dish towel collection to decide which ones I’m no longer in love with. If I were in need of adding to my collection these eight would definitely be moving in to my cabinets!

Seed Money

Seed Money is definitely one of those things I wish I’d thought of first – it looks like the real thing (right down to the roll!) and grows colorful flowers and vegetables once tucked into the soil! It’s hand-illustrated and letterpress printed onto thick paper that’s embedded with the seeds. How fun would it be to leave a few in different places for unsuspecting people to find?! Jennifer Davis

Jennifer Davis-1-Design Crush

I don’t own a gun, but I’ve always loved the graphic geometric look of a shooting target. Jennifer Davis took things even further in an artsy direction with her quirky characters that make me want to do everything but shoot at them! You can purchase your own custom hand-painted paper shooting target in Jennifer’s Etsy shop. It’s only the second day of the new year and owning one is already on my wish list for 2013!
