Unfortunately (for me) it’s not to a deluxe apartment in the sky. Fortunately it does have to do with some leaps and bounds forward for Design Crush. (*cue applause*) The first of several additions will show up tomorrow morning. So set your alarm clocks!
As many of you are already aware from other blogs singing her praises, Ez at Creature Comforts has created an absolutely brilliant visual Blog Gallery. She did a great job with the Design Crush link – I love it! Thanks again to Ez for all her hard work and the great links she’s put together. I can’t wait to find some new reading material.
A huge thank you to fellow blogger Kati at The Finer Things for awarding Design Crush one of her Make My Day awards. Definitely stop by her blog and check it out if you don’t already!
A big thank you to desire to inspire for mentioning Design Crush in their Holiday Reading Part 1 post! Stop by and check out all the fantastic blogs mentioned in parts 1 and 2.
On another note, posting will still be sparse through January 8th as I’ll be traveling through then. I hope everyone had an unforgettable holiday!
HD is Hester Designs, the design shop where I work. And 3D is our holiday card this year which extends to a specially designed 3D web site. No worries, if you don’t own 3D glasses you can request a pair from the site and we’ll send them your way. Cheers!
Nope, that’s not a tree from my yard, but it looks like everything in the tri-state area at the moment. You see, Oklahoma doesn’t get snow. We get ice. Since Saturday evening we’ve been in the midst of an ice storm and a third of the state is without power at the moment. We worked from home yesterday and today made it into the office late. Driving to work the roads were fine, but there were splintered trees everywhere you looked. Keep your fingers crossed for everyone who needs it!
For my birthday last Sunday a group of friends and I headed to Cafe Nova for a late brunch. Specializing in contemporary American cuisine the brunch menu was short, but sweet. My favorite part being the Champagne Brunch which includes unlimited mimosas with any item on the menu – woohoo! Cafe Nova also has some amazing art that is part of a revolving exhibition. This eatery is a defnite regular on my list.
The Girlie Show makes its rounds through the US giving “rockin’ arts-and-craftin’ females an opportunity to show their goods and make some cash in a fun party atmosphere. Yes, it’s called an art show, but we encourage you to challenge the definition of ‘art’.” I’d heard about it when it rolled through Oklahoma City last fall, but was unable to make the event itself. This year that won’t be the case – I’m thrilled to go and see all of the amazing work that’s in my own backyard.
The Girlie Show 2007 will be held Friday, October 12, 8 to midnight and Saturday, October 13, noon to 5 p.m at the Oklahoma City Farmers’ Market.
WIth this post I’m also introducing a new category to Design Crush – out on the town. Out on the town will focus on things going on around Oklahoma City as well as local talent and places I’d love to check out.
Unfortunately, my computer-related life has been hell this week. Monday we got brand spankin’ new 17″ MacBook Pros at work. Woohoo! However, since the arrival of mine I’ve been consumed with reinstalling, updating, etc. and now I have to reinstall the entire system because of some glitches. So this is just a quick update to get rid of my Blogger’s Withdrawal before being completely incapacitated for another day and a half. Here’s a picture of the little bastard and my new 20″ monitor as well, which has been nothing short of a widescreen joy.
Today is moving day at the office. We’re smack dab in the middle of some renovations, upgrades, decorating, etc. Which also means that as of today I am on the same floor as all the other designers. Since I started here three months ago, I’ve seriously been on a completely different level than everyone else (and I’m not speaking metaphorically). So now I’m a part of the Cool Crowd and sharing an office with my fantastic co-worker, Chris. Luckily we have a lot of the same taste in music, and since I’m constantly on the prowl for new ear candy it will be a huge bonus. There are a lot of cool projects in the making here, so there will most definitely be more posts and pictures to follow.
