Confession. I had a print of a Mark Rothko print on my bedroom wall while in college. I was taking so many design and art history classes, and he just seemed very much like the intersection of the two. With that less than tawdry secret out there, I’m loving these Rothko-inspired cookies that Mimi O Chun masterminded. (via CMYBacon)

Paletas

The past few summers – and who knows how many before that – have been swept up in a frenzy of popsicles. (As evidenced here and here.) No one can seem to get enough, and the migration of Mexican paletas making their way further north is only driving the craze. This cookbook, Paletas: Authentic Recipes for Mexican Ice Pops, Shaved Ice & Aguas Frescas, is on my MUST BUY list for sure.

Mason Jar Meals

I’ve had visions of an all out old fashioned picnic lately. A pretty checkered blanket, wicker basket, and little delicacies that don’t get eaten on a regular basis. All packaged up nicely and ready to go at an instant’s notice with a few friends in tow. These mason jar meals from the decorated cookie fit right into my big picture and are perfectly portioned.
