It’s that time of year when I’ve got camping on the brain! (Even though I’ve camped approximately 2.5 times in my life. And all before the age of 13. But that’s neither here nor there.) You know what they say about a great adventure, half the fun is getting there. Well in this case, half the fun is in the stuff you take there with you. Not exactly glamping, but pretty damn close.

Summer’s end is just around the bend, but there’s still the last hurrah of Labor Day to see to. I’m digging these big, bold type beach towels from Piccadilly for Opening Ceremony. Designers Peter Miles and Leigh Johnson found their typographic inspiration in the signs of New York’s food markets, and I got a laugh out of imagining the people laying on the towels for sale as the items advertised!

Sharon Myoung and Tony Kim get so many points for the Sladle & Stabber. Let’s start with the name, which is undeniable genius. Then there is their idea to combine indoor and outdoor objects into a sort of hybrid utensil. Last, let’s not forget the overlook the crazy-smart design.
