Easter Stuffs

This year Easter is going to be exceptionally low-key in my family. One person will be out of town at the NCAA basketball tournament, a few people just moved into a new house and are still getting settled, and yet a few others have to work. Some holidays are just like that, and this is one of them. I’ll still be dyeing eggs Saturday as usual and maybe even making a batch of hot cross buns for the first time ever! Love these twenty ideas for fun DIYs and egg decorating below.

Dutch Babies 12 Ways

Have you ever made a dutch baby pancake or tried one? I attempted to bake one a few years ago and failed miserably, haven’t tried again since. The thing is they supposedly aren’t difficult to make and I think I need to try again. These twelve variations look like a great place to start.

Spaghetti Squash 12 Ways

I was first introduced to spaghetti squash back in the 90s when my mom was on a clean eating diet. Being a picky teenage vegetarian at that time, I fell hard for the weird squash that took on the form of one of my favorite foods. These days it’s everywhere, and in about a hundred more forms and recipes – here are twelve I’d love to try.

You’re Invited to Christmas Brunch

you're-invited-christmas-brunch-Design-Crush

I can hardly believe Christmas is a week from today! The holidays always seem to sneak up on me, but the unusually warm weather we’ve been experiencing here on the east coast has really thrown everyone for a loop. It’s been more of a challenge than usual to get into the spirit, but I’m doing my best. I’ve also been thinking about the brunch my family will be sitting down to Christmas Day and what it might include – and you’re invited.

Mega Christmas Cookie Roundup

I’ve done it – blocked a day off the week of Christmas to bake my face off. A few years ago I attempted to talk my now 91-year-old Grandma into taking a step back and only making her infamous nutrolls. It didn’t go exactly as planned, so now I simply tell her how many cookie recipes I’m making so she can see the reasoning behind my request/demand. I’ll probably end up baking between five and seven different varieties, but need to narrow the list down from these FIFTY. Help a girl out?

4 Recipes for Winter Simmer Pots

Winter Simmer Pots-1-Design Crush

The weekend after Thanksgiving I started swapping out the candles I normally burn with stovetop simmer pots. I was surprised at how easy they were to put together as well as just how good they made my home smell! Just keep adding water as the burn down and one can last for a few days. Pop over to eBay to check out the four simmer pot recipes I’ve had on rotation – Cranberry + Orange + Cinnamon, Lemon + Bay Leaf, Apple + Clove + Cinnamon, Citrus Peel + Eucalyptus.

Pop Tarts 10 Ways

There wasn’t a much more exciting breakfast than a Pop Tart when I was a kid. Flaky crust, gooey insides, and plenty of sugary icing layered on top. Sigh. But it turns out you can make your very own Pop Tarts at home and the options are just about endless – sweet, savory, simple, fancy, and everything in between. Here are ten ways that I’d love to try!
