CD Cover Meme.

This “sleeve”, created as part of Flickr’s CD Cover meme, uses randomly generated data from Wikipedia, quotationspage.com and Flickr to generate your own fantasy album cover. Type, setting: designer’s own.

Alright, alright. Monday’s are difficult enough to get through, but when you have Monday off Tuesday becomes equally, if not more so, unbearable. That’s how I found myself browsing my Google Reader this afternoon and coming across this crazy-fun (and semi-time consuming) idea via CR Blog. That’s right folks, it’s time for Flickr’s CD Cover Meme! Try and control your excitement by using your indoor voice if your at work because this is all kinds of fun.

It’s a simple game:

1. The first article title on this randomly generated Wikipedia page is the name of your band.

2. The last four words of the very last quote from this random page from quotationspage.com is the title of your album.

3. The third picture on this page, Flickr’s list of interesting pictures from the past seven days, is your album cover.

The first image that came up for me on Flickr was nummer. 5 by user peperclipp which you can see in its original format here.

Tag. You’re It.

I’ve been tagged by d.Sharp and Fresh Peel. And since I haven’t done one of these in awhile, well, I guess it’s time to fess up.

1. You know when there’s something rank smelling in the air and people tell you to breathe through your mouth? Yeah, I can’t do that. I feel like I’m eating the stench.

2. I’m constantly in the middle of an internal monologue and sometimes make the mistake of speaking it out loud. Make that a very frequent sometimes.

3. My sarcasm runs rampant and if you don’t know me, well, let’s just say there may be either severe confusion or offense taken. And lots of explaining to do on my part.

4. I have no middle name.

5. I am the Queen of Lists. I have them for everything in a notebook I tote around. Right down to one for Possible Future Pet Names. I’m such a loser. (And not at all antipcipating or looking forward to the demise of my current two feline friends…)

6. I love to purge my belongings at least once a year. (In fact, it’s one of the lists!) But I have a rule that 99% of the things I’m ditching either go to charity or someone else who can use them – not into the trash.

7. My favorite word in the English language is quintessential. If you don’t know what it means look it up.

I’m not going to tag anyone because I figure by this point we’ve all filled out this chain letter equivalent at least once. But what I am going to do is open it up to the Design Crush readers. Yes, you. It can be seven strange things about yourself or one. If you feel compelled to share your deepest, darkest secrets there’s no better time or place and than here and now.

Design Crush Awards.

The last three weeks have taught me a valuable lesson: I’m not cut out to be a rockstar. Three trips in two and half week is enough to kill anyone, so touring would be out of the question. One more dream crushed and washed down the drain. My traveling is finally over and although it was wonderful to see family and friends I’m so, so glad to be home and stationary for a bit.

I arrived home to a great surprise – an award from Snowflakes & Vampires for my posts and these rings. I promised to pass on ten more awards from Design Crush, so here you go.

1. Chris Wilson of Fresh Peel for his innovative approaches and thoughts on every day life in marketing.

2. Rachel of Black*Eiffel for her posts that make my eyes pop.

3. Jhayne of black.white.bliss. for this post on the Tiny Buildings Blog.

4. BB of BB-Blog because it’s a Must Read for unique finds.

5. Smoke and Ochre’s Bronwyn for these amazing Andy Warhol posters.

6. Jordan of Oh Happy Day because her brand new son Moses is the most adorable baby. Oh, and because she barely took a break from blogging after having him!

7. The Projects because I’m just digging the posts lately.

8. Abbey Goes Design Scouting for this post on the number 8.

9. Susy of SusyJack* for these great desktop images.

10. And last (but not least) Amber of Daisy Chain for agreeing with me thatJuno is, in fact, one of the best movies ever!

So Long 2007.

And that’s all she wrote. In a few hours I’ll be off on the next leg of my holiday travels to visit some friends.

As cheesy as this sounds (pass the crackers please!) I wanted to take a second to thank all of you who take the time to read Design Crush. I love being able to share the things I come across and what would be the point of it if no one read my posts? So thank you, thank you, thank you.

All the best in 2008 to all of you. Cheers.

Holy Icy-ness.

Nope, that’s not a tree from my yard, but it looks like everything in the tri-state area at the moment. You see, Oklahoma doesn’t get snow. We get ice. Since Saturday evening we’ve been in the midst of an ice storm and a third of the state is without power at the moment. We worked from home yesterday and today made it into the office late. Driving to work the roads were fine, but there were splintered trees everywhere you looked. Keep your fingers crossed for everyone who needs it!

Useless.

That’s what I am to the blogosphere at the moment.

Yesterday Photoshop got upset with me for some unknown reason and after troubleshooting for three hours I realized I had to reinstall my entire system. Luckily I’d backed up my home folder earlier in the week before installing Leopard. Or so I thought. Seems my desktop didn’t back up which is where I keep all of my personal files (i.e. things I want to blog about, URLs, etc). So now, until I have some time to do a little research, I’m screwed. I’ll still be posting, but since my resources are non-existent at the moment things may be a bit sparse for a few days.

Bear with me…

Big Sickness.

I’m sorry for the lack of posts, but I’m headed out early today to nurse this stupid cold I’ve acquired. All hail the NyQuil.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I’ll be back (hopefully germ-free) Monday morning.
