Strong, simply designed accessories are always my go-to. Especially during summer when I don’t want to be weighed down with a lot of clothing or extra anything. Jenna Rowe‘s copper and brass V Necklaces are refined enough to attend a wedding but low-key enough to wear with jeans and a simple tank.

We’ve all heard the reference that fashion is art, but what about when it actually is? Meet Tiff Manuell, a designer and artist from Adelaide, Australia. She creates a range of hand-painted accessories, each one completely unique thanks to her process. Tiff works by first painting canvases with bright colors and patterns, then cutting that canvas up and placing it inside a PVC outer shell before sewing and adding trim. Bags of all sizes and purpose, statement neckpieces, collars, and cuffs are all created in the same manner.
Because I tend to dress in mostly neutrals, Tiff’s pieces have been an amazing dose of pattern and color for summer. Inside each bag she takes the time to stitch in a one-of-a-kind logo, just one last special touch that makes every piece feel just for you.
Tiff also creates these dramatic statement necklaces from cut strips of painted canvas that are real showstoppers, color and pattern galore. I’ve been hanging mine on the wall as art when I’m not busy wearing it, and I always get so many compliments when paired with a plain tee or tank.
Long story short – I’ve got a crush, and it’s a big one.

There is some doubly awesome stuff going on with The Good Twin’s Zodiac Pin + Posts! Astrology can be intriguing to me (and I definitely match my Scorpio profile), so sporting one of these abstract pins and having a sweet postcard to go along with it is loads of fun. Can’t wait to pick up one, but be warned that they sell FAST.
Houston, Texas fiber artist/art professor/jewelry artist Kari Breitigam must ooze creativity out of every perfect pore. Her pieces are handmade in such a thoughtful and ritualistic way that I almost wonder if those qualities might transfer to the wearer when they drape one on.

Art that gives back is like the pile of cherries on top of one of those ridiculously huge sundaes. The best. Sybille Paulsen‘s Tangible Truths focuses on the thread of change and transformation that runs through our lives, in this case women going through chemotherapy. By creating wearable artifacts from their hair, Sybille marks each transformation by creating something tangible that’s of value. Gamma Folk founder and designer Lily Piyathaisere combines traditional techniques, including natural dyeing, weaving, braiding and ceramics to create her folksy line of statement pieces. If ever there was one jewelry line perfect summer, this just might be it.

Last month in Austin I came across lots of shops that were new to me, but none struck a chord quite like Moulton. Marisa Howard’s Seaworthy jewelry collection is inspired by a variety of traditional aesthetics, from textiles to architecture. She draws on the Oregon coast in particular to bring color and texture to her designs. The 2015 S/S collection is full of pretty metals, varying is weight from thin and delicate to heavy and chunky.
