Ben Skinner

Ben Skinner-1-Design Crush

Vancouver-based artist Ben Skinner is having fun with mixed media art. In his Same Same series Skinner creates bricks made from plaster and acrylic paint with classic sayings that use the same word twice. Think womp womp, oui oui, etc.

Peter Gentenaar

Peter Gentenaar-1-Design Crush

Peter Gentenaar‘s love of paper began during his days as a printmaker. So he learned about it, he started making his own, and then he moved on to making these breathtaking objects. The sculptures start as 2-dimensional colored sheets of pulp, the forms caused by the pulp drying and shrinking in unison. I’m impressed by every aspect from the detail to the sheer size.

Jeannine Marchand

Jeannine Marchand-1-Design Crush

Jeannine Marchand‘s ability to manipulate clay into fabric-like folds is truly something to behold. I have to admit, when I first saw her work I thought it might actually be starched material. I’d love to spend a day watching her adept hands form and obsess over every last detail.

Anna Hepler

Anna Hepler-1-Design Crush

The air-inflated sculptures of Anna Hepler are really something special. The Maine-based artist uses a drinking straw(!) to fill the pieces that are of varying sizes and colors with her own breath. Hepler’s other 3D sculptures and installations are equally breathtaking.
