Posted In holidaysOkay, okay. Although this little stunt wasn’t an April Fool’s prank, it was spectacular. It took five co-workers and myself about three hours, several hundred plastic cups and gallons of water to pull off one evening. The tape is across the door to prevent my boss at the time from walking right into the room without looking – and it barely stopped him!
Posted In holidaysThe weather has been spot-on beautiful for the past few days, so of course it’s supposed to rain both Saturday and Sunday since I won’t be cooped up in an office. Go figure!
Have a fantastic weekend and lovely Easter Sunday filled with headless chocolate rabbits and stale marshmallow Peeps!

Posted In easter, holidaysWith less than a week to go before St. Patrick’s Day there’s no way I could only share one Irish-themed cocktail with you Design Crushers! So without further ado, I give you the On the Rocks: St. Patty’s Day edition.
Ingredients:
– equal part dark Irish beer
– equal part hard cider
– shot of blackcurrant syrup
Fill pint glass with equal amounts of dark Irish beer and hard cider, leaving about 1/3 inch space at top. Add a shot of blackcurrant syrup and stir gently to mix.
Blackcurrant syrup: In saucer, bring one cup sugar and two cups blackcurrant juice to boil. Allow to simmer for 20 minutes or until mixture appears thicker. Cool in ice bath and pour into final storage container, adding 1 oz vodka as preservative.
Ingredients:
– 2 oz Bushmills Irish Whiskey
– 2 teaspoons brown sugar
– 5 – 6 oz freshly brewed strong black coffee
Stir thoroughly and top off with a layer of heavy whipping cream, poured gently over the back of a spoon.
Ingredients:
– 1/2 oz Bushmills Irish Cream
– 1/2 oz coffee liqueur
– 1/2 oz hazelnut liqueur
– 6 oz coffee
– whipped cream
Garnish: cinnamon
Pour ingredients into a tall Irish coffee glass. Top with fresh hot coffee and finish with whipped cream on top. Garnish with cinnamon stick and power.
Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 oz Bushmills Irish Cream
– 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
– 1/2 oz coconut rum
– 1 1/2 oz half & half
Garnish: coconut wedge
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into a short glass and garnish with coconut wedge.

Posted In cocktails, holidays, st. patrick's dayHappy February 29th!
(Am I totally insane to almost sorta wish that today were my birthday?)
V-Day always carries a lot of pressure for me whether or not I happen to be in a relationship come February 14th. If I’m with someone there’s the pressure of what to plan, what to eat, etc. And if I’m single it’s only a day long reminder of just that.
This year – in which I fall into the latter category) – I keep reminding myself that it could always be worse. My all-time low involved a blind date which was easily one of the most awkward few hours of my life.
So on this day of sugary sweetness I want to hear your story. What was the worst/funniest/best Valentine’s Day you’ve lived to tell the tale of?
Posted In holidays, valentine's dayI am craving cake something awful today! This Valentine’s Cake looks amazing – you just can’t go wrong with chocolate cake, cheesecake and strawberry topping all stacked together.
Posted In holidays, recipes, valentine's dayAh, yes. For all the masses Wii Lovers out there. So sweet and, thankfully, not too saccharine and girly.
Posted In cards, holidays, paper goods, valentine's dayI remember seeing these Crayon Hearts in Living a few years ago and now it’s the only crafty project I think of when V-Day rolls around. Mainly because I’m dying to melt down old crayons. Actually, I think these guys might be fun to make any time of year in different shapes. Erase that, any time except the dog days of summer. (Unless you want a melty, waxy mess that is.) I have yet to go through with the plan, but one day …
Posted In holidays, make it, valentine's dayValentine’s Day is two weeks from today and I’ve held off on this Round Up because new valentines keep popping up every day! So without further ado – or babble – here are my favorite valentines of 2008. (I tend to lean more towards the quirky/funny side with these cards because that’s just where my personality falls in regards to this holiday.)
