Victoria Wagner / Woodrocks

The 100+ year old Norwegian maple tree in my front yard is half-dead and being taken down today, so Victoria Wagner‘s Woodrocks seem especially fitting to share. She uses large pieces of reclaimed wood sliced into geometric shapes and painted using oils to create each gem-like work. I’m thinking of keeping a piece of my tree and creating a little something to pay homage to it.

Liz Orton / Deltiologies

Liz Orton‘s Deltiologies explores traditional landscape photography through a series of six collages. The result reminds me of what you might see looking through a kaleidoscope in the middle of an afternoon hike while on vacation.

Lee Griggs / XGen Portraits

Lee Griggs‘ XGen Portraits are pretty gnarly. The Madrid-based artist embellishes the same 3D scan of a man’s head with various shapes, textures, and colors to varying degrees. The results range from disco ball-like to completely grotesque.

Ajean Ryan

Installations, paintings, graphite, pastel, sculpture… and dimensional drawings. Ajean Ryan‘s portfolio is a robust one, full of experiment and whimsy. And the last category above is the one that intrigues me most – dimensional drawings covered in bits and baubles from everyday life that all but jump off the page at you.
